Monday 17 March 2025 at 8:00am UTC / 3:00 pm UTC
Interpretation in: Arabic, English, French and Spanish
We are reviving the Winning Narratives Community of Practice and – responding to demand – we could not think of a better first topic for 2025 than “Responding to opposition announcements” as many of us are handling the fallout from the USA administration’s actions as well as other set backs driven by government policies or declarations by the anti-gender movement. Please sign up for the 60-min session at 8:00 am UTC / 3:00 pm UTC on 17 March 2025 via this Zoom link so we know how many to expect.
🧐 What is the Community of Practice?
The Winning Narratives Community of Practice is a network of IPPF staff, Member Associations and trusted partners who gather to discuss challenges and opportunities around narratives and where the spotlight is given to participants to share their experiences and discuss them in a private space. In the past, topics have ranged from ‘how to reach men’, to ‘how to research anti-gender narratives’ to ‘how to do solutions journalism’ and the spotlight has covered every region in the federation.
⏳How long is the session?
This session will only be 60-minutes so as many people as possible can join and has been organised as quickly as possible to be helpful for our current challenges so the only ‘prepared’ content will be from IPPF global comms but there will be space for participants to share relevant experiences and raise questions for the group.
💬 What will be addressed?
We will try to stick to the Community of Practice focus on narrative and framing questions (as opposed to questions of advocacy, programming, fundraising, etc)
We will not be limited to the US government actions as we know there are participants facing anti-rights government declarations about funding, legislation etc in other parts of the world which will be very relevant – the common thread is the dilemma of ‘what do I say when the opposition is putting us on the backfoot?’.
📲 Who can join?
Both sessions are open to all IPPF Members and Collaborative Partners’ staff and teams. Please note: these sessions are for internal use only—kindly do not circulate this invitation outside the Federation.
🗣️ Language Support:
Interpretation services will be available in English, Spanish, Arabic and French.
📆 Session Options:
To accommodate different time zones, we’ve scheduled two sessions:
👉Click the zoom registration link to get it automatically adapted to your time zone
👉 The content will be the same during both sessions, please only register for one
We encourage you to invite your communication and advocacy staff to attend—let’s make sure we’re equipped to articulate and act strategically in this space!
Normally Community of Practice sessions focus on members of the network sharing your experiences – we aim to hold at least one other session in 2025 so suggestions for topics and volunteers to share are very welcome!
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there.
