Executive orders implemented by the Trump administration with an impact on the SRHRJ.
Hear about the secrets to ensuring human rights in sexual and reproductive health, in particular ensuring full support for LGBTI people, ending HIV/AIDS and ensuring that marginalised and criminalised groups have the same right to access health care:
Suspending US aidto foreigners: A decision published on 20 January provides for an immediate90-day moratorium on the implementation of US overseas development assistance (ODA). This action will put all overseas development assistance in limbo and will include all support through Work Order Orders. This decision has an immediate impact on all reproductive health, human rights and social justice programmes. This decision was issued on 24 January in order to promote language.
Implementation of the anti-DIE decree: The Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Act , signed into law on 20 January , seeks to define diversity, equality and inclusion initiatives , whether in the private sector or in the federal government, and we see funding for LGBTI groups (including our partner in Bangladesh on the basis of the anti-DIE decree.
The decree on defending women against the extremism ofgender ideologyand restoring biological truth: The decree on defending women against the extremism of gender ideology and restoring biological truth, published on 20 January, targets transgender, non-binary and intersex people. Reflecting an imprecise and exclusionary definition of “biological truth” but rather of independent gender identity, this decree has raised significant concerns for our communities and we believe that funding has been suspended due to this decision.
End of PEPFAR funding: The order of PEPFAR funding has an impact on the treatment of millions of people against HIV. It is clear that if this were to happen, it would lead to millions upon millions of deaths and the spread of HIV. We are working with activists, organisations and partner organisations to try and address the impacts of defunding PEPFAR.
WHO total withdrawal: Please see IPPF’s announcement regarding the withdrawal of Member States from the World Health Organisation here.
TheGlobal Gag Rule (Global Gag Rule, GGR), published on 24 January, is a direct violation of human rights, forcing women to forgo dangerous or unwanted abortions and denying core US funding to organisations like IPPF if they provide abortion services, counselling or referrals, even if they use non-US funds sourced from other funders. The absence of the GGR has resulted in a decrease in funding for the IPPF.
Join theGeneva Consensus Declaration. This declaration brings together governments that are hostile to LGBTI rights .
The application of the application of theHydeAmendment published 24 January (also commu as the national version of the GGR), which has an impact on US federal funding, but is important because of the relationship between domestic and foreign policy.
